How does a bottle garden work?
A bottle garden is a miniature garden in a closed glass jar that requires little maintenance. The real plants and composite materials create a small ecosystem modeled on nature. Due to the closed cycle and photosynthesis, the biotope only needs to be watered every 3 to 6 months. Such a small garden is definitely an eye-catcher in the apartment or in the office!

1. Transpiration
Water evaporates from the leaves of the plants.
2. Condensation
Moisture condenses on the glass.
3. Precipitation
The condensed water runs back to the ground, similar to rain in nature.
4. Absorption
The roots absorb the water present in the soil.
5. Breathing
At night, plants produce carbon dioxide (CO2). During the day, with sufficient light, they carry out photosynthesis and convert the CO2 into oxygen (O2). A closed gas cycle is created.
Frequently asked questions about the plants in the glass
I would like to personally give away the Flaschengarten, what do I do with the plants until then?
After our shipment, the plants can last up to 10 days in the box without any problems.
However, the plants should be removed from the packaging as soon as possible after delivery so that they can receive light and carry out photosynthesis again. The faster they come back to light, the less stress it is for the plant.
You can leave the plants and moss in the small transparent bags and store them on the windowsill in a bright place. The bags keep the moisture in the pot for a long time. They should just not be exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise the leaves can burn.
Just before giving away, simply pack everything back in the box and the DIY gift is ready.
Can I have the Flaschengarten sent directly to a gift recipient?
Yes, that is easily possible. You can enter a different delivery address (gift recipient) during the ordering process.
You can also leave a personal gift message in the note field in the shopping cart. We will then handwrite this on a card and add it to the package.
There is no invoice in the package. The invoice is sent digitally to the e-mail address given by the buyer during the ordering process.
How does shipping work?
We ship all orders placed by 9pm the following business day (Monday to Friday). As a rule, delivery within Germany then only takes 1 to 2 working days.
From an order value of 45 euros, shipping within Germany is free of charge.
The Flaschengarten DIY sets are shipped safely in specially developed, stable, innovative and environmentally conscious packaging that is also a hit as a gift.
The plants can withstand up to 10 days in the box without any problems.
When and how often do I have to water the bottle garden?
As a rule, the bottle garden should be watered 2 to 4 times a year (with approx. 50 ml).
When the moss loses color and one side of the glass is no longer fogged up in the morning, that's a sign that the bottle garden needs water.
Where should the bottle garden be later?
The bottle garden should be in a bright place with a room temperature that is as constant as possible. Maximum 1 meter from the window. The north or east window is ideal.
It should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
What happens if I don't like the Flaschengarten after all?
This case is very unlikely and rarely occurs. However, you can return the Flaschengarten up to 14 days after delivery if you are not satisfied.
If something should have broken during transport, then write us an e-mail and attach photos of the damage. We will then quickly send you the defective parts.
